Australia’s largest in-room auction, and a key bellwether of how the Australian property market might play out in the year ahead, will take place on the Gold Coast on 28 January.

Known simply but boldly as The Event, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic annual auction regarded for decades as a litmus test of the Australian real estate market at the beginning of each year.

The Event was created by Ray White Surfers Paradise through their Principal Andrew Bell OAM and was timed to provide a wide selection of Gold Coast properties at the peak of the tourist season on the Gold Coast.

Hundreds of thousands of people visit the region from late December through to early February and it now draws a large number of buyers to make an annual pilgrimage to the Gold Coast to add properties to their investment portfolio.

Chairman of the Ray White Surfers Paradise Group, Andrew Bell OAM, said that this year they worked particularly hard in an environment where stock levels were down by around 37 per cent.

“We have achieved a near record level of 127 properties going to auction in the week concluding 28 January,” Mr Bell said.

“This year the team at Ray White Surfers Paradise looked to provide a range of residential and commercial properties in areas located throughout the entire Gold Coast region and in price ranges from the lowest entry point to the most prestigious of homes.

“In particular, the team has really focused on getting a good selection of affordable properties in the lower 30 per cent price bracket of the Gold Coast marketplace, which is ideal for first home buyers, low-income buyers, investors and downsizers,” Mr Bell said.

The Event, held in the Grand Ballroom of the Royal Pines Resort in Benowa, is held in conjunction with the Gold Coast Home and Living Expo that provides access for buyers to a whole range of services, whether it be finance, legal, pest and building, removalists, security companies, and more, all of which are so often needed by buyers in the process of purchasing a property.

All information booths provide advice free of charge and doors open at 10am.
