The Woodrow Weight Award for outstanding service to the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales and the profession has been awarded to John Cunningham at the REINSW Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner.

REINSW President Leanne Pilkington paid tribute to Mr Cunningham as a key force in driving the vision to transition the Australian real estate industry into a profession.

“Our winner has done more to support the industry, the institute and agents in the last year than most of us will do in our entire career,” Ms Pilkington said.

“John’s single-minded determination has become infectious with other industry leaders falling in behind him as he travels around the country in his own time lobbying, explaining and pushing people to become part of our Pathway to Professional program.

“John, who started his real estate career in property management in 1977, has been a big supporter of REINSW since the 1980s and is passionate about the property industry.

“He opened his own business in Sydney’s northern beaches with his wife in 1991 and it is now recognised as one of the area’s leading real estate agencies.

“John took a board position in 2005 with REINSW and served as REINSW President from November 2015 to November 2017,” Ms Pilkington said.

The Woodrow Weight Award is named after the legendary REINSW President, who was the first Australian ever to be elected World President of the International Real Estate Federation.

The Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner was held at Sydney Town Hall on Thursday, 27 September 2018.
