Cryptocurrency - The New Investment Frontier

We all know and love property.   In Australia, property makes up the backbone of our investment portfolios.  We are lucky to be able to invest in it in the way that we do and be rewarded with great returns for time and effort we put in.

In 2017 however, for many investors hitting our investment goals has proven to be more challenging than in previous years. A tightening in the Australian lending space due to APRA changes, along with revised taxation laws has greatly impacted Australian Investors. In addition, the message from a number of our readers is that some individuals are still struggling to save for that first deposit, making the dream of owning a home, let alone an Investment Property a daunting endeavour.

To combat these issues, we see the benefit in exploring alternative investment asset classes to either springboard or complement our property investment journeys.

Recently we have received enormous enquiry into one particular asset class: Cryptocurrency. In response to this exceptional interest, in the coming months, we intend to monitor this new investment space and share with you the insights of leading experts, from across the globe.

We are excited to discover if:

• Cryptocurrency as an investment vehicle can assist investors save for a deposit (and get a return on investment whilst saving)?

• Allow an investor to the leap into their next property purchase faster, or diversify heading into retirement?

• Or perhaps even, in the not too distant future, allow us to pay tradies, settle a property, manage our title, ease the building approval process, and/or help us to research our next investment.

While we won't go into the basics; the whats, hows and whys now (that is for future discussion), we must remember that the Crypto space is not just about Bitcoin and coin-currency. There are thousands of blockchain based business, with 100's of new entities emerging every week. Each one of these businesses are bringing trust, security, utility and decentralisation to tackle established real-world problems, improving the processes and systems that create stresses and problems for people on a daily basis. By integrating with these Crypto entities early, we can evolve and diversify our investment exposure at a global level, potentially utilizing gains to either enter the property market for the first time or build our current portfolios.

So while our focus at API is and always will be property, in 2018 we believe you, our audience, as savvy investors can benefit from the coverage of important concepts and emergent information in the Crypto space, as it comes to light. 

So without further ado, welcome to the brand new API Crypto Corner.   Each week,  as part of our regular newsletters, and on the APImagazine.com.au site, we will be covering key Crypto concepts and emergent businesses that can help us as property investors (first and foremost) but also as diversified, savvy investors.
