Find unemployment ‘red alert’ suburbs

‘Bulletproof investing’, the cover story for the July 2009 issue of API, includes details and maps from a study identifying suburbs with a higher risk of unemployment during the current economic downturn.

The study was conducted by the Centre of Full Employment and Equity at the University of Newcastle, in conjunction with the Urban Research Program at Griffith University.

Though the API story only included maps of Australia’s capital cities, the research actually covers a range of smaller regional cities across the country as well.

Maps displaying the Employment Vulnerability Index for those cities can be found on the University of Newcastle website.
