Hotspots found all over Australia

With every state and territory represented in API's annual Hot 100 list this year, it's clear that property hotspots can be found all over Australia.
Queensland dominated the much anticipated list – put together by a panel of carefully selected experts – with some 27 locations making the cut.
New South Wales had the next biggest representation with 25 locations, 19 locations were named in Victoria, 14 locations were in Western Australia and 11 were in South Australia.
Significantly fewer spots were named in the smaller states and territories but they still featured; Tasmania and Northern Territory had one apiece and two locations were named in the Australian Capital Territory.
The experts considered areas all over Australia but capital cities came up trumps with 71 per cent of the locations in API’s Hot 100 being close to capitals and just 29 per cent being in regional areas.
API’s panel of experts chose the locations featured in the Hot 100 based on their potential not only for short-term capital growth, especially over 12 months, but also for the medium and long-term.
With the long term in mind, it’s interesting to note that 25 locations in this year’s Hot 100 were named in last year’s annual list and six were named for a third year in a row.
The suburbs named in 2008, 2009 and 2010 were:
- Christies Beach, South Australia
- Elwood, Victoria
- Geraldton, Western Australia
- Ipswich, Queensland
- Redcliffe, Queensland
- Redfern, New South Wales
