The number of property transactions in New South Wales has moved above levels last seen when the market peaked in 2007, State Government figures show.
There were 17,810 property transactions in September 2009, up 37 per cent on 12 months earlier, and the highest number of sales in any September for the past five years.
It’s 11 per cent above the number of sales in September 2007, NSW Treasurer Eric Roozendaal says.
“We’re seeing green shoots of the NSW economic recovery and it looks like we’re starting to turn the corner,” Roozendaal says.
NSW Government figures also show first homebuyers in the state received $92.98 million in grants in September 2009, compared to $26.18 million for the same time in 2008.
